EDUCATION CAREERS Enrollment Application 2024-2025:

This one-year program allows high school seniors to explore careers in education through a partnership with East Rochester Elementary School. Students participate in four 10-week rotations in different grade levels. They also gain the experience of working at least one day per week in a before/after school program. Students in this program meet the requirements of a level I NYS Teacher Assistant, including NYS Mandated Reporter Training, DASA Training and Violence Prevention Training. This program is open to seniors only. Morning session.

To be considered for enrollment in New Vision Education Professions, a student shall:

  • Complete an online application for the program
  • Have a high school attendance rate in excess of 90%
  • Practice good judgement
  • Have the ability to communicate in a mature manner with parents and education professionals
  • Display energy and enthusiasm
  • Plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college to pursue a career in the education professions
  • Work both individually and as a team member
  • Respect the confidentiality necessary in a school setting.
  • Be entering his/her senior year in September 2024 and be on track for graduation in June 2025.
  • Want to work in a school setting

Directions for completing the online application:


  1. During the online application process, you will be required to provide the names and email addresses of two people to serve as your references. Please limit your references to teachers, coaches or administrators who know you well. It is important that you provide accurate information. An email including complete instructions will automatically be sent to the email addresses you provide upon the successful submission of your application. Your references will submit the completed recommendation forms electronically, and they will become part of your application.

  2. You must submit two essays. The essays will be evaluated on clarity of expression, adherence to the conventions of grammar, creativity, and your ability to follow directions. Each essay should be 1 to 2 pages in length, double spaced and saved as a PDF or as a Microsoft Word document. You will have the opportunity to upload them later. Instructions for each essay follow.   3. Essay one. Write in response to one of the following choices.
    1. Select a creative work - a novel, a film, a poem, a musical piece, a painting or other work of art, that has influenced the way you view the world and the way you view yourself. Discuss the work and its effect on you.
    2. Share with the committee something that most people do not know about you.

    Essay two. Write in response to one of the following choices.
    1. If you had the chance to have a 30 minute conversation with any person in human history (either living or deceased), who would be the person you choose? Why? What topics would you discuss with this person?
    2. Detail for us a risk you have taken, why you feel it was a risk and how it made you a better person.
    3. Describe an ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

  4. Once you have completed steps 1, 2 and 3, return to this page and click next. When you successfully provide the information required, you will see the following message: "Record added successfully. Files uploaded successfully. Your application is complete. If you're on a public computer, you should close this web browser to protect your information." Please be aware that in addition to the information you provide, your counselor will be providing a copy of your transcript, your attendance record, a completed counselor recommendation form, and a copy of your IEP / 504 plan if you have one.
